Russian Space Troops board to discuss manning of cosmodromes, units

MOSCOW. Jan 27 (Interfax-AVN) - The Space Troops board started a session on Monday focusing on the manning of cosmodromes and units with officers.

"The board's first session in 2003 started under the chairmanship of Space Troops Commander Anatoly Perminov. The session is focusing on the manning of cosmodromes and units with officers," an official with the troops' press service told Interfax-Military News Agency.

Participants in the session will also discuss organization of work to maintain military discipline, law and order as well as to preserve lives and health of personnel. Moreover, the session is to determine measures to ensure safe service of personnel in 2003.

March 2003 marks the second anniversary of the Space Troops' transformation into a separate branch of service. Since June 1, 2001 the troops have been accomplishing the following missions: deployment, maintenance and control over the orbit grouping; warning of missile attacks; anti-missile defense of the Moscow region; aerospace control.
