Georgian foreign minister to discuss bilateral relations, anti- terrorist fight in Moscow

MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgian Foreign Minister Irakly Menagarishvili will pay a working visit to Moscow on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Tuesday, he will have talks with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov, sources in the Russian Foreign Ministry told Interfax. They said the two ministers would discuss bilateral relations in the political, economic and military spheres, as well as interaction in the fight against international terrorism and the crisis over Iraq.

On Wednesday, Menagarishvili will attend the next round of Russian-Georgian negotiations on Russian military bases in Georgia. Minister of Industry, Science and Technology Ilya Klebanov will lead the Russian delegation in this round of talks.

There are two Russian military bases located on Georgian territory, in Batumi and Akhalkalaki. Georgia insists on their withdrawal within three-four years, while Russia says it will take from 10 to 14 years.

Two Russian military bases in Georgia, in Gudauta and Vaziani, were closed down in 2001 in compliance with a resolution of the OSCE Istanbul summit.
