MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax-AVN) - A commission led by Colonel General Valery Baranov, first deputy commander of the Interior Ministry Troops, flew to Chechnya on Wednesday, a competent source in the Interior Ministry troops headquarters told Interfax- Military News Agency.
The commission includes deputy commander of the Interior Ministry troops for armament Lieutenant General Pyotr Rovensky, officials of the Interior Ministry Troops Command and Staff.
"The main aim of the commission is to control the accommodation of the 46th separate Interior Ministry brigade that is permanently stationed in Chechnya. The division personnel are still living in tents. Members of the commission will determine sites for building barracks and other installations of the brigade's compound as well as study the accommodation of commandant's offices and checkpoints that have been reassigned from the Defense Ministry to the Interior Ministry troops," the source said.
He noted that Baranov is planning to meet with federal troops commander in the North Caucasus Lieutenant General Sergei Makarov to discuss the accommodation of the Interior Ministry troops involved in the Chechnya campaign.
The commission will also focus on the possibility to reduce the number of Interior Ministry troops Checkpoints in line with President Vladimir Putin's instructions.
