Siberian military district to hold CPX this week

CHITA, Southern Siberia. Mar 3 (Interfax-AVN) - A regional command post exercise (CPX) involving military commissioner's offices of the Krasnodar territory, Khakassian autonomous republic and several military units they are manning will take place in the Siberian military district from Monday to Friday.

"The exercise that was planned beforehand will be supervised by the district's chief-of-staff Lieutenant General Vladimir Bakin," the district's press service reported. It will involve high-ranking officials of the air force and air defense army and railway troops army based on the district's territory and officials from other law-enforcement agencies.

Taking into account experience of a similar exercise that recently took place in the Omsk region tasks, local and regional authorities will take part in accomplishing missions, the press service said.

A press service official told Interfax-Military News Agency that the CPX "will involve up to 10,000 reservists in order to check the mechanism of joint work and upgrade the skills of Russian regional authorities and military in a special period."

A 10-day training session and combat harmonization of reservists assigned to a military unit of the district are taking place in accordance with the exercise's scenario at a proving range in Khakassia, the official said.
