Armed guerilla destroyed in Chechnya

GROZNY. March 14 (Interfax-AVN) - An armed rebel has been destroyed on the outskirts of the Chechen village of Avtury in the Shali district.

"The rebel killed in an engagement was carrying an AKM assault rifle, a TT pistol, 300g of TNT and some 50 cartridges. The dead man is being identified," a source in the regional operational headquarters in charge of the Chechnya campaign told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.

According to him, a separatist stationing point intended for 10-15 people was found in the Vedeno district on Thursday. 20 82- mm mortar shells, two radio stations and five electric detonators were seized on the scene.

Two more caches with arms and ammo were found in the Itum- Kale and Gudermes districts of the troubled republic.

Police forces destroyed six illegal oil refineries, detained three oil refuelers and seized some 30t of illegally produced oil products.
