Russian chief-of-staff ordered commanders to begin to love Fatherland, get closer with their subordinates

MOSCOW. March 20 (Interfax-AVN) -Russian Armed Forces Chief- of-Staff Anatoly Kvashnin has ordered active officers to step up personnel work in their units.

In accordance with the chief-of-staff's order, officers of all levels of command are ordered to make and dispense large posters reading 'Nothing closer to commander's heart than his soldiers and his Fatherland!' and establish a joint day of political training on this topic in the clubs, libraries, and HQs of their units, a unit commander who had received the order told Interfax-Military News Agency Thursday.

"Commanders ought also to include the subject 'Love for Fatherland, care for people and for subordinates be the foundation of the Armed Forces' commanding tradition', in the schedule of leadership skills training," he said.

He also said that in addition commanders were to meet with servicemen of all levels and their families, with an emphasis on enlisted men.

The campaign should last until March 25, the officer said.
