Russian military leaders discussing discipline, arms trade

MOSCOW. March 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Leaders of the Russian Armed Forces started a meeting in Moscow on Friday to discuss the strengthening of discipline in military units and development prospects for military-technical cooperation, a source in the Defense Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.

"Strengthening of law and order in the Armed Forces and the main spheres of military-technical cooperation are on the agenda of the Friday session of the Defense Ministry board," the source said.

Lieutenant General Nikolai Reznik, head of the Defense Ministry's main political work department, is expected to report on measures aimed at strengthening law, order and military discipline, maintaining stable morale of all categories of servicemen, and decreasing social tensions in military units.

"Mikhail Dmitriyev, deputy defense minister and chairman of the Russian committee for military-technical cooperation with foreign states, will speak on the state of military-technical cooperation and its main spheres for 2003," the source said.
