MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax-AVN) - One of the two MI-24 Hind helicopters that went missing in Chechnya on March 20 has been found, Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky, chief of the Air Force's press service, told Interfax.
"The MI-24 helicopter was discovered from the air on Tuesday morning. There has been no word about the fate of its crew yet," Drobyshevsky said.
He said that "the crash scene is in the mountains, about 2,000 meters above sea level. The site is difficult to access."
"A search-and-rescue team has been sent to the site," Drobyshevsky said, adding that search efforts for the second MI- 24 are still underway.
The two MI-24 helicopters, which were carrying four crewmembers, went missing on a mission over Chechnya's southeast district.
