KUWAIT CITY/MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Mideast-based military and diplomatic sources have estimated anti-Iraq coalition losses at 200.
"Furthermore, about 300 wounded and sick British and U.S. servicemen have been transferred from Iraq since the beginning of the war," one of the sources told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.
He said that Iraq has lost 1,500 and about 3,500 have been wounded. the heaviest losses as a result of air and artillery strikes from the allied forces," the source said.
According to other sources, the U.S.-led coalition and the Iraqi Army have lost 32 and 87 tanks, 33 and 52 armored vehicles and 10 and 173 pieces of ordnance, respectively.
In addition to this, the coalition's troops have also lost ten airplanes and drones, and 14 helicopters.
Iraq's Ambassador to Russia Abbas Khalaf expressed skepticism over the numbers of Iraqi casualties.
"These figures pointing to large losses among Iraq's servicemen are unlikely. They seem to be the elements of a psychological war," Khalaf told Interfax on Tuesday.
The ambassador said that traditionally, invaders sustain more casualties in any hostilities.
Asked why Iraq has not made its military losses public, Khalaf only said, "There is a war going on."
"But even if these reports are correct, the Iraqis will fight until the end," the ambassador stressed.
