MOSCOW. April 8 (Interfax-AVN) - Less than 50% of professional servicemen with the 76th airborne division are satisfied with conditions of their contracts.
"Results of the poll held among servicemen of the division's regiment manned with professionals showed that the current version of the contract satisfies less than 40% of personnel," a source in the Russian Defense Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.
Results of the poll demonstrated that 62% of servicemen' hopes for professional service failed. The main reason is low salaries.
A total of 72% of servicemen are not satisfied with living conditions, including the lack of flats or dormitories for servicemen and their family members, big density of personnel, and two-story beds.
Eighty-eight percent of servicemen signed the contract willing to improve housing and financial situation, and 62 percent because they wanted to earn big money in trouble spots.
The poll showed that professional servicemen are mainly interested in getting housing, a 50% discount on utilities, the right to get free higher education, free medical treatment for servicemen' family members, exemption from the income tax, etc.
"In order to attain the main goal of the experiment, which is to complete the manning of all units of the division with professional servicemen, by April 30 it is desirable to pay attention to proposals of the airborne command on the elaboration of real levels for stimulating attractiveness of professional military service," the source said.
