Troops accommodation in Chechnya progressing as planned - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Accommodation of the 42nd motorized rifle division stationed in Chechnya on a permanent basis is progressing as planned, Lieutenant General Anatoly Grebenyuk, chief of the Armed Forces construction and quartering department and deputy defense minister, said on Wednesday.

"Accommodation of the 42nd division in Chechnya is progressing as planned, and there are no concerns about possible disruption of the program," Grebenyuk told a news briefing at the Defense Ministry.

The garrison stationed in the Kalinovskaya village is nearly fully accommodated, he said. "In fact, we only have the ammunition depot to be completed," he noted.

Accommodation of the garrisons in the Grozny suburb of Khankala and in the towns of Shali and Borzoi, as well as of the units stationed in several close-to-border localities, is nearing completion, Grebenyuk said.

"In fact, military builders in all these garrisons now pay major attention to completing social and recreation facilities, as well as facilities needed for normal living of servicemen's families. In particular, a kindergarten will open in Khankala and a cafe in Kalinovskaya before the end of April," the general added.
