STAVROPOL. April 10 (Interfax-AVN) - The Nizhny Zamarag checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border suspended its operation the road to the Rokskaya picket was closed after an avalanche blocked the 100m-long section of the Trans-Caucasus highway.
"In spite of the avalanche the Rokskaya checkpoint is working in the regular mode, and border guards have everything they need for service and leisure," the press service of the North Caucasus regional border guard department reported on Thursday.
Acting director of the Federal Border Guard Service Colonel General Vladimir Pronichev visited the Nizhny Zamarag checkpoint on Wednesday when studying the situation on the 100km-long area of responsibility of the Vladikavkaz border guard detachment.
During his working trip to the North Caucasus department, Pronichev is accompanied by the department's acting head Lieutenant General Valery Putov.
