ULYANOVSK, Volga Region. April 10 (Interfax-AVN) - The Ultyanovsk automobile plant (UAZ) will export over 1,500 UAZ automobiles and full sets of automobile components in April, the plant's director for marketing and sales Andrei Dorofeyev said on Thursday.
"UAZ is planning to produce 6,780 automobiles this month. The output of a new series of vehicles, UAZ-3160/62 Simbir, will grow 1.5 times against March and more than two times against April last year. Over 1,500 automobiles and full sets of automobile components will be exported," Dorofeyev told Interfax- Military News Agency.
In order to implement the program, the plant will work 22 days this month, and some of its segments will work 24 days.
Sales of Simbir vehicles have grown this year, Dorofeyev said. More than 300 vehicles of this family will be produced in April.
"UAZ is planning to keep up the volume of orders for these automobiles and even boost them. The plant is ready to meet the Russian consumers' demand for Simbir vehicles in full. There are more than enough prerequisites for that. A new modification with the ZMZ-514 diesel engine has been made, for which consumers have been waiting for a long time. Moreover, these vehicles are likely to enter the inventory of the Defense and Interior Ministries," Dorofeyev said.
The plant sold over RUB900m (USD28.77m) worth of its products last month. Sales of its vehicles grew by 47 percent on both domestic and foreign markets. The plant's main conveyor manufactured 6,574 automobiles, including 2,022 commercial vehicles, 2,625 cross-country vehicles, and 1,927 buses. As many as 7,719 automobiles and full sets of automobile components have been sold, which is a growth from 6,367 in March 2002. The plant shipped 570 automobiles a day last month.
