ST.PETERSBURG. April 10 (Interfax-AVN) - Air defense units of the Leningrad military district will hold a tactical exercise with live firing this month, the district's press service said on Thursday.
"A tactical exercise of the Land Forces air defense will take place at the proving range of the Yeisk training center and at the Ashuluk training ground in the Astrakhan region," the press service told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Aide to the district commander Colonel Yuri Klenov said "the exercise will involve the 138th and 200th detached motorized rifle brigades, and crews of Osa air defense missile systems, Tunguska air defense systems and Igla and Strela-10 portable air defense missile systems will perform live firing."
Inspection teams from the district headquarters and departments will check the district's units on the eve of the exercise.
"In order to control competence of officers leaving to inspect the units, Leningrad Military District Commander Army General Valentin Bobryshev held an instruction and methodical class for them to brief them on regulatory documents. The officers performed exercises in live firing and ordnance driving at facilities of the 56th district training center on Thursday," Klenov said.
