MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Interior Ministry Force is willing to switch over as soon as possible to a joint logistics system now being considered by the government, Lieutenant General Pyotr Rovensky, deputy commander of the Interior Ministry Force for armament, told Interfax-Military News Agency Friday.
"The project of the transition (to the unified logistics system - Interfax-AVN) in the Armed Forces and other state armed formations, including the Interior Ministry Force, though being still considered by the Government, is already virtually in the field, and we would like it to come (officially - Interfax-AVN) effective as soon as possible," he said.
He said that if implemented in the Interior Ministry Force, this project would reduce the expenses for the technical support of the armor and vehicles by factor of 2.5. "We will receive overhauled combat vehicles for the Force from the Defense Ministry producers at the lowest price; we will also cut the expenses for the accumulation and storage of military hardware and for the training of maintenance specialists," he also said.
The project was launched by presidential decree No. 453 of May 10, 2002. The program covers only the military hardware in joint use with the Defense Ministry, Interior Ministry Force, Federal Border Guard Service, Emergencies Ministry, Railway Forces, and Special Construction Service.
