Policemen steal missile from military in Georgia

TBILISI. April 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Two Georgian policemen and a refugee from Abkhazia stole a surface-to-air missile from a Georgian army unit located near the village of Vartsikhe in central Georgia on Saturday.

The thieves were detained outside the military unit's location when they were trying to disassemble the missile to derive parts made of palladium, the Imereti regional police unit told Interfax on Monday.

The police claimed that the missile could have exploded, causing serious damages within a radius of several hundred meters.

A criminal investigation into the incident has been launched.
