South Ossetian authorities to demand from Georgia destruction of police post

TSKHINVALI. April 15 (Interfax-AVN) - The South Ossetian authorities will demand from Georgia destruction of a police post near the Karaleti village on the Gori-Tskhinvali road.

"Neither South Ossetians nor Georgians are satisfied with the work of the post. The post's personnel does not combat criminals, it only rackets money," Boris Chochiyev, South Ossetian minister without portfolio and co-chairman of the Mixed Control Commission on the Georgian-Ossetian settlement, told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.

"During a regular leg of Georgian-Ossetian negotiations that is to take place in Tskinvali on Friday to Saturday we are going to raise the issue of improving coordination between the South Ossetian and Georgian law-enforcement agencies, destroy inefficient structures, including the post near the Karaleti village," Chochiyev said.

He noted that during the negotiations the officials would specify the terms of a meeting between Georgian Interior Minister Koba Narchemashvili and his South Ossetian counterpart Dzhemal Karkusov. "The interior ministers are to discuss the destruction of the post and bringing its racketing officials to justice," Chochiyev stressed.

Moreover, "the negotiations will also involve the command of the Mixed Peacekeeping Forces and we hope to state concrete measures aimed at raising the efficiency of the peacekeeping in the area," Chochiyev said.

"All reached agreements would be confirmed at a meeting of the commission's co-chairmen from Georgia, South Ossetia, North Ossetia and Russia, that is to happen in the Gori locality on April 23," Chochiyev added.
