Units of Ukraine's Northern operational command practicing defense of stream

ZHYTOMYR, Ukraine. April 16 (Interfax-AVN) - Units of the Northern operational command of the Ukrainian Land Forces are practicing defense of a stream at a tactical exercise that takes place at the 240th join-arms proving range near the city of Zhytomyr.

"The units are practicing defense of a critical line and disruption of the enemy's crossing of a stream. The exercise is supervised by commander of the 8th army corps Major General Serhiy Bezlushchenko," a source in the Northern operational command headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.

"The exercise involves units of the 62nd detached mechanized brigade with attached army aviation, self-propelled artillery, SAM and airmobile formations," the source said.

"Participants in the exercise practice the putting of a battalion on high alert, as well as various ways of inflicting damage on the enemy through aviation, artillery and missile assets," the source noted.

The event will end on Friday.
