FSB agents prevent terrorist act in Chechnya's Germenchuk

GROZNY. April 16 (Interfax-AVN) - A terrorist act was prevented in the Germenchuk village in the Shali district, the Federal Security Service department for Chechnya reported on Thursday.

"Agents of the department together with servicemen of Interior Ministry troops commandant's office and a detached small- arms company found a makeshift explosive device made on the basis of the OZM-72 mine at the market in the Germenchuk village. By doing this, they disrupted a terrorist act planned by guerillas who do their best to prevent peaceful settlement in the republic," the department's PR group reported.

Tipped off by local residents, agents of the department and a unit of the military commandant's office found 28 F-1 grenades, five PRG-7 grenade launcher rounds, and over 1,300 various cartridges in a half-ruined building in Grozny.

Several more caches were found in the Kurchaloi district.

Search operations aimed at finding the caches' owners are underway.

A KAMAZ and a KRAZ trucks driven by residents of the Gekhi village were detained on the Rostov-Baku motorway in the Achkhoi- Martan district. The trucks were transporting 28t of diesel fuel without documents.

A decision to launch a criminal case will be made after analyzing results of expert examination, the PR group reported.
