Two police from Ryazan region die in Grozny shooting

GROZNY. April 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Two police officers from the Ryazan region died in Grozny's Oktyabrsky district when fire was opened on their Ural truck.

An unidentified group shot a grenade launcher at the truck, which was en route to a checkpoint on Tramvainaya Ulitsa. The shots came from the dilapidated building of the fifth vocational school, a spokesman for the Chechen Interior Ministry told Interfax on Thursday.

An officer and a warrant officer were killed in the incident. The truck driver and two officers, the head of the Ryazan elite task force's medical department and the head of the consular services of the Ryazan regional interior department were wounded. Both officers are in the hospital. Their condition is stable.
