GROZNY. April 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Aslan Maskhadov, the former president of the so-called Republic of Ichkeria, is in Chechnya, Secretary of the Chechen Security Council Rudnik Dudayev told the press on Thursday.
Dudayev said there is information that Maskhadov happened to be in an area of a federal shooting. Dudayev did not say which area it was.
"We do not have reliable information about whether Maskhadov was hurt or not, but the information is being verified and I am confident that we will find out very soon," Dudayev said.
