TBILISI. April 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Commander of the North Caucasus military district Colonel General Vladimir Boldyrev will visit Armenia and Georgia on April 20-26 in the framework of a planned inspection of the Russian troops group in the Trans- Caucasus, the district's press service chief Colonel Alexander Lutskevich said on Friday.
"During the trip the commander will inspect the 102nd base in the Armenian town of Gyumri, and then the 62nd and 12th bases located in the Georgian towns of Akhalkalaki and Batumi respectively," Lutskevich told Interfax-Military News Agency.
According to him, Boldyrev will visit the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone where a Russian battalion manned with servicemen of the district is accomplishing missions within the Mixed Peacekeeping Forces.
Lutskevich did not rule out that Boldyrev will meet with Armenian and Georgian defense ministers.
During his trip the commander will be accompanied by generals and officers of the district's headquarters.
