Russian arms exporters exhibiting innovation projects at Moscow hi-tech forum

MOSCOW. April 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian arms producers and exporters are exhibiting original innovation projects in the spheres of environment protection, medicine, machine-building, fuel and energy industry, education systems, and special-purpose assets at the High Technologies of the 21st Century forum that opened in Moscow on Monday.

"Participants in the forum will be able to study peculiarities of foreign economic support of innovations, catalogs, multimedia presentations, mock-ups and samples of export-oriented innovation projects and knowledge-intensive technologies," the press service of the Rosoboronexport state- owned arms trader told Interfax-Military News Agency.

Some projects belong to the category of 21st century critical technologies, the press service said. Among them is the production technology of structural ceramics designed by the defense industry of the Kaluga region. It provides for mass production of high-precision devices of complicated configuration and with high-temperature strength exceeding that of metal compositions by 1.5 to two times. No limitations are imposed on the size of devices.

Special attention at the forum is paid to promotion of innovation products on the global market and to attraction of foreign and domestic investments in the Russian defense industry in cooperation with foreign and domestic organizations.

According to the press service, experience in cooperation in the innovation sphere with Chinese, Indian and African companies demonstrates advanced potential of the Russian defense industry in the sphere of hi-tech innovation products.

"In the framework of innovation and investment activity, Rosoboronexport has signed several general agreements on cooperation with Russian innovation and investment organizations, including the Russian Hi-Tech Development Fund, International Trustee Fund of the Tsiolkovsky Moscow State Aviation Technological University, Rosbank, All-Russian Bank of Regions Development, administrations of several Russian regions and research compounds," the press service said.

By now Rosoboronexport has established a voluminous information and analytical database including over 700 civil- purpose innovation projects of Russia's leading defense industry enterprises, as well as over 1,000 investment themes and 150 investment projects covering various sciences and technologies, including machine-building, electronics, energetics, chemistry, medicine, light industry, agriculture, telecommunications, and transport.
