MOSCOW. April 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia is interested in expanding cooperation with Poland, including in defense and arms trade.
"We are interested in expanding cooperation, in particular along the lines of defense and arms trade. We have a sufficient opportunities to interact here," Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov said at a Tuesday Moscow meeting with Polish Defense Minister Jerzy Szmajdzinski.
Ivanov said Russia recently received a draft agreement from Poland on defense ties.
He promised that Russia would try to have the draft "go through all of the appropriate procedures quickly," after which Moscow will offer a reply.
"We also have good opportunities in the military field based on bilateral relations and Euro-Atlantic ties," he said.
Ivanov noted that Russia is waiting for Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski's visit to St. Petersburg in late May.
