Leningrad military district delegation to make response visit to Sweden in May

ST.PETERSBURG. April 25 (Interfax-AVN) - A group of Russian officers will make a response visit to Stockholm in May after the work of a Swedish military delegation in the Leningrad military district, the district commander's aide on PR Colonel Yuri Klenov told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.

"Having completed its work in the Leningrad military district on Friday, the delegation of Sweden's Northern territorial defense district will leave for Stockholm on a special plane. A delegation of the Leningrad military district's 138th guard detached motorized rifle brigade will visit the Northern district's 5th infantry regiment in May," Klenov said.

Commander of the brigade Colonel Andrei Serdyukov, who accompanied the Swedish delegation, will head the Russian delegation in May.

The Swedish delegation paid a visit to Leningrad military district commander Army General Valentin Bobryshev, studied life and combat training in the 56th district training center near St. Petersburg and the 138th brigade. The delegation also traveled to the Mozhaisky Military Space Academy.

"The Northern district's commander Major General Bjorn Andersson praised the combat skills of the Leningrad district's soldiers and officers," Klenov noted.

He said that in addition to observing the training at a proving range, the Swedish military fired various types of armament of the motorized rifle brigade.
