STAVROPOL. April 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Border control agencies of the North Caucasus regional border guard department are working in close contact with the sanitary and quarantine service to prevent SARS infiltration in Russia.
"Border guards are closely cooperating with officials of the sanitary and quarantine service. Doctors are the first to enter a vehicle crossing the border, and border guards and officials of other control services inspect the vehicle only after hearing the doctors' report," the department's press service reported on Tuesday.
"The current situation at aircraft, railway, automobile and other checkpoints is under reliable control; they all operate in the regular mode," a press service official told Interfax- Military News Agency.
He said that border control agencies have not detected any people with SARS syndrome at the department's checkpoints.
Over 10,000 people and several thousand vehicles cross the Russian border in the department's area of responsibility every day. During the past 24 hours, 40 people have been banned from crossing the border and 30 of them were fined for various violations.
