GROZNY. April 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Two riot policemen from the Kirov region were wounded by a land mine in the center of Grozny on Tuesday.
Sources at the Chechen Interior Ministry told Interfax that the radio controlled bomb exploded at an intersection when an armored UAZ vehicle was driving by.
There were ten OMON policemen in the vehicle. The explosion made a deep hole in the earth.
According to data available to the Interior Ministry, the road is patrolled by local policemen. In addition, engineering reconnaissance check it several times a day.
The bomb is believed to have been planted in a heap of garbage several meters away from the road.
Most of the houses close to the intersection are half- ruined, and investigators are checking them at the moment. Traffic is suspended in the area.
Several days ago another bomb exploded nearby, but by luck nobody was hurt, Interfax was told.
