About 800 kilos of drugs seized on Tajik-Afghan border

DUSHANBE. April 30 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian border guards have seized around 800 kilos of drugs including 550 kilos of heroin from couriers trying to cross the Tajik-Afghan border this month, a Federal Border Guard Service spokesman told Interfax on Wednesday.

Russian border guards found nine caches containing weapons and ammunition. Some 30 artillery shells, 320 cartridges, six mines and a grenade were found, the spokesman noted.

"In April, Russian border guards and armed drug traffickers engaged in three clashes. No casualties were incurred among Russian servicemen," he said.
