TBILISI. May 5 (Interfax-AVN) - European experience in combating illegal migration and trans-border crime in the drug dealing sphere will be used in the activity of the Georgian border guard troops, press service chief of the Georgian State Border Guard Department Shalva Londaridze said on Monday.
"We are already introducing many achievements of European border services on our frontiers, and we will doubtlessly get a lot of interesting information at the international conference on illegal migration and combating drug trade that takes place in Hungary from May 4 to 7," Londaridze told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"These issues are very pressing for Georgia, which is a key section of the Eurasian Corridor and always under pressure from international criminal groups engaged in drug trafficking," he said.
The conference is attended by border guard chiefs from 40 countries and officials of 15 international organizations.
"The Georgian delegation to the conference is led by State Border Guard Department Chairman Valery Chkheidze," Londaridze said.
While staying in Hungary, Chkheidze will also hold a series of bilateral negotiations with his foreign counterparts, the press service chief noted.
