Over 2,000 Russian servicemen brought to criminal liability for hazing since 2002

MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian military prosecutors have brought to criminal liability for hazing over 2,000 servicemen since 2002, Lieutenant General Alexander Savenkov, deputy prosecutor general and chief military prosecutor, told a Tuesday news conference at the Interfax main office.

In addition, prosecutors have cancelled 237 illegal decisions of military control bodies and made 210 reports to the command concerning correction of breaches of law, 55 protests, and 30 warnings, Savenkov said.

According to him, military prosecutors checked over 250 units representing all military structures in February this year. The checks involved experts, as well as officials of the command and superior staffs.
