MOSCOW. May 7 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's international weapons broker, Rosoboronexport, has export contracts totaling more than USD12bn, the firm said on Wednesday.
"This volume guarantees the operation of enterprises and organizations in the defense industry that are involved in the fulfillment of export contracts for the next three to four years," Rosoboronexport said in a release made available to Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.
Last year, its exports totaled more than USD4bn. Russia's total military exports were worth USD4.82bn. This was a record amount for Rosoboronexport.
Rosoboronexport works with more than 60 countries and has permanent offices in 40 states, the release says. The enterprise also has 23 offices in the principal Russian industrial regions.
The agency is focusing on expanding the geography and range of its exports and on restoring and strengthening Russian positions in markets of the Middle East, Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
Russia is also returning to the markets of Central and Eastern Europe, with countries that have joined NATO, the release says.
