Russian strategic bombers to perform training missile launches

MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax-AVN) - TU-160 Blackjack and TU-95MS Bear strategic bombers will perform training missile launches during combat post exercises of the Russian long-range aviation scheduled for mid-May, Colonel General Boris Cheltsov, Air Force chief-of-staff, said on Monday.

"A check of long-range (strategic) aviation units will take place in mid-May under the supervision of Air Force Commander-in- Chief Vladimir Mikhailov. It will end in a command post exercise," Cheltsov told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"Participants in the command post exercise will practice interaction between long-range aviation units and other military branches and arms of service," he said.

"TU-160 and TU-95MS strategic bombers will take off in the framework of the exercise to perform training missile launches," the chief-of-staff said.
