Russian Aviation and Space Agency Board proving decrease in performance of exported aircraft

MOSCOW. May 13 (Interfax-AVN) - The experts of the Russian Aviation and Space Agency have noticed a deterioration of the performance of Russian-made exported aircraft, a competent source in the Russian defense industry told Interfax-Military News Agency Tuesday.

"The opinion that the performance of the Russian-made exported aircraft deteriorates was expounded at the recent session of the Russian Aviation and Space Agency Board considering the production quality issues," the source said.

According to the source, "high-ranking speakers from TsAGI, VIAM, Gromov Flight Research Institute, and other organizations concerned said that the performance of the aircraft and of some components had somewhat deteriorated, with the focus on the higher number of replacement claims for the exported aircraft."

"The board heard an opinion that Russia lacks a consistent data collection and analysis procedure as to the performance of the exported aircraft," the source went on.

"Those present at the session were virtually unanimous in admitting that there is a need for the recovery of the pre-1990 quality monitoring system with amendments related to the free market economic environment and international requirements like ISO-9000, ISO-9002, etc.," the source concluded.
