KUALA LUMPUR. May 20 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov is to arrive in the U.S. on Tuesday after completing a visit to Malaysia.
In the course of Ivanov's working visit to America on Wednesday and Thursday, he is scheduled to hold talks with President George W. Bush, National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and other Administration officials, a military diplomat told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"Among the key issues the Russian defense minister plans to discuss in Washington are prospects for reducing strategic offensive weapons, missile defense, efforts against international terrorism and control of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction," the source said.
"The level of cooperation between Moscow and Washington has a decisive effect on strategic stability and security on the whole," he said.
