Collective Security Treaty Organization states to get arms on preferential terms

MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax-AVN) - In keeping with the April 28 decision of the Collective Security Council, starting in 2004, arms and military hardware will be delivered to all member- countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on preferential terms, Nikolai Bordyuzha, secretary general of the council, told a Friday news conference at the Interfax main office.

"In accordance with the decision of the Dushanbe session of the Collective Security Council, preferential terms for delivering military purpose goods will apply to all the armed forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization's member- states. This decision will be documented as a protocol that the heads of governments of the member-states will sign shortly," Bordyuzha said.

He said the mechanism for controlling these arms deliveries is now being developed. "This is to be done to prevent the military hardware received on preferential terms from being sold to third countries," he said.
