MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Interior Ministry Force is gradually entering the Joint Unified Logistics System in accordance with the governmentally approved program for 2002-2005, Lieutenant General Yevgeny Gromov, deputy commander of the Interior Ministry Force for logistics, told Interfax-Military News Agency Monday.
"In accordance with the program for 2002-2005, approved by the Russian Government, the service support units of the Interior Ministry Force are now step-by-step entering the Joint Unified Logistics System of all armed forces of the Russian Federation," he said.
The general said that the entire material base of the logistics services was being reviewed. "This is being done to reduce excessive units in logistics services and to practice joint tenders with counterparts from the Armed Forces," he went on.
According to the general, the Joint Unified Logistics System has proven to be effective in the North Caucasus anti-terrorist operation. "In the second Chechnya campaign the Interior Ministry forces have been actually supported within a joint framework. We have extensive relevant experience, and we will advance it further," Gromov said.
