Moldova, Belarus agree to establish data exchange system between defense ministries

CHISINAU. May 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Defense Ministers Viktor Gaichuk of Moldova and Leonid Maltsev of Belarus have signed an agreement on establishing a data exchange system between their ministries, the press service of the Moldovan Defense Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency Monday.

"The document implies exchange of information pertaining to military legislation, implementation of military treaties, R&D programs and military research cooperation projects, etc.," the press service said.

During the mission to Belarus, the Moldovan delegation has visited the Agat Research-and-Production Association to see future C2 and air defense upgrade systems designed by the enterprise. The delegation has applied interest because the Moldovan army operates Soviet-made air defenses being successfully upgraded by Agat.

In the Belarussian Military Academy the delegation saw the training and research procedures.

According to Gaichuk, to study the training procedures in other countries is aimed at "introducing most advanced methods in the Military Institute of the Moldovan Armed Forces established in Chisinau September 1 last year on the initiative of the republic's president."
