"The Russian delegation led by Michael Dmitriyev, chairman of the Russian Committee for Military-technical Cooperation with Foreign States, arrives in Uruguay on Thursday. Representatives of the Russian Foreign and Defense Ministries, the Rosoboronexport federal state-owned unitary enterprise and the MIG Aircraft Corporation are included in the delegation," the press department of the Russian embassy in Uruguay reports.

About 400 automobiles of military and dual purpose worth USD10m approximately have been supplied to Uruguay by Rosoboronexport within the framework of a 2002 contract. The Ulyanovsk automobile plant's off-roaders and the Ural automobile plant's trucks constitute the core of these supplies.

"In addition, the sides will discuss prospects of Russian aircraft (mainly MIG-29 Flanker fighters) deliveries to Uruguay. For this reason, MIG Aircraft Corporation experts were included in the delegation," the source said.
