Russian aerospace defense council discusses antiaircraft missile armament development

MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Basic spheres of development of antiaircraft missile armament were discussed at a regular session of the independent expert council on aerospace defense.

"Proposals concerning aerospace defense development and a number of organizational affairs were submitted for discussion. The expert council on aerospace defense discussed the basic spheres of antiaircraft missile armament development at its session," the council's scientific secretary Vladimir Aldoshin told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.

A decision was made authorizing council measures to draft generalized proposals for their subsequent submission to state governing bodies.

The council on aerospace defense was established in Russia at the initiative of scientists, designers general and veterans of air defense, missile and space defense and air force. The first session of the council took place on April 10. The session elected Academician Boris Bunkin, research supervisor of the Almaz Research and Production Association, and Anatoly Kornukov, former Air Force commander and aide to the Almaz director general on military-technical policy, as co-chairmen of the council.

The council is an independent body focusing on the development of a reasoned position and proposals concerning general and minor issues in the sphere of aerospace defense establishment.
