GROZNY/MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax-South) - Part of a five- story house collapsed in the Chechen capital Grozny at 3:20 a.m. Moscow time on Friday (2320 GMT on Thursday.
The bodies of eight victims - six children and two women - were recovered from the debris by 8:00 a.m. Moscow time (0400 GMT), Interfax was told at the Chechen Emergencies Ministry. Three surviving children were hospitalized with wounds.
The house collapsed after an explosion the causes for which are being investigated.
According to the local authorities, 13 to 15 people lived in the part of the building that collapsed.
Rescue workers from Chechnya and Ingushetia as well as representatives of municipal services are working at the site. Their colleagues from Dagestan and North Ossetia are ready to join them, if need be.
