South Korean military delegation to visit St. Petersburg

ST.PETERSBURG/MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax-AVN) - A South Korean military delegation led by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will visit St. Petersburg on Tuesday, the press service of the Leningrad military district told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The delegation members will meet with the district command on Tuesday morning, a press service official said.

Then the South Korean military will go sightseeing to the Avrora cruiser and other places of interest in St. Petersburg.

The delegation will return to Moscow late on Tuesday by a special Air Force plane.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov received the visiting chairman of the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff on Monday.

"They discussed security in the Asia-Pacific region and prospects for military cooperation between Moscow and Seoul," the Russian Defense Ministry press service told Interfax-AVN.

Also on Monday, the South Korean military commander met with his Russian counterpart Army General Anatoly Kvashnin.
