Ikrut aircraft corporation gets gold medal of intl business club

MOSCOW. June 20 (Interfax-AVN) - The Irkut research and production corporation has received the gold medal of the Russian- Swiss Business Club for unstained business reputation.

The Russian-Swiss Business Club is a component part of the Russian-Swiss Trade and Industrial Chamber and a member of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. The club is issuing medals for unstained business reputation in cooperation with the union.

Under the gold medal statute, contender companies have to pass through multi-stage screening, which allows the expert council to make an unbiased assessment of stability of their financial indexes, efficiency of operation, transparency of accounting, and the size of contribution to national economy. The latter criterion is the decisive for admission to the next stage of screening.

At the final stage, the expert council checks the media to make sure there are no scandalous publications about the contender and the courts to make sure there are no international lawsuits involving it.

Irkut is among leading Russian aircraft producers. Its stock of contracts exceeded USD4bn in early 2003 and it is expected to reach USD5bn by the end of the year.

Alongside with implementing a series of large projects, including international ones, Irkut is being transformed into an integrated multi-profile corporation that performs projecting, production and after-sale servicing of military and civilian planes, as well as their components and systems.

Irkut is the only company in the Russian defense industry that has been checked by auditors in compliance with international standards.
