MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia may earn up to USD40m per year in contracts related to Iran's nuclear energy sector, an Atomic Energy Ministry representative told Interfax.
"Russia can earn this money merely by supplying fresh nuclear fuel and shipping out spent nuclear fuel," the representative noted.
"If the first unit of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, which is being built by Russian specialists, works for 50 years, Russian companies will receive revenues over that period," he said.
Russia's Atomstroiexport is building the unit in keeping with an inter-governmental agreement valued at over USD1bn.
Atomic Energy Minister Alexander Rumyantsev reported earlier that the unit will be launched in 2004, and linked to Iran's power grid in 2005.
