More than 200 graduates of Border Guard Service Academy beginning career

MOSCOW. June 23 (Interfax-AVN) - More than 200 newly commissioned officers - graduates of the Border Guard Service Academy - will begin their career on the state border, Colonel General Alexander Reznichenko, chief-of-staff of the Federal Border Guard Service, told Interfax-Military News Agency Monday.

"Today more than 200 officers are graduating from the Academy, almost 100 percent of them will begin career service on the state border," he said. He added that 12 officers have graduated with gold medal, and 60 with honors.

"The Academy also trains representatives from abroad. Now there are eight graduates from Belarus, seven from Kazakhstan, seven from Tajikistan, and three from Kyrgyzstan," he said.

Reznichenko recalled that the Academy dates back to November 30, 1923 (OGPU Higher Border Service School). The Academy got its current name and list of required specifications (leadership, staff, and operative officers) on April 9, 1994, through a presidential decree. Since 2001 the specifications list of the Academy has included also field and staff C2, HR, and control of social processes in the Service.
