KHANKALA. June 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Units of the Railway Forces will bridge the Sunzha River in Chechnya this June, press official with the Combined Federal Force in the North Caucasus Lieutenant Colonel Nikolai Berzeytis told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.
"The federal forces in Chechnya assist the people to restore infrastructure there in addition to their direct duty of establishing constitutional order in the republic. In particular, the Railway Forces units repair the railways destroyed during the war as well as bridges over the Sunzha River near Gudermes. The bridge is supposed to become operational by late June," Berzeytis said.
He added that Railway Forces units had prevented two terrorist attacks on Sunday. An antitank mine was neutralized in a mine-clearing operation on the Agishty-Nozhai Yurt route; a radio controlled landmine was neutralized near the village of Novogroznensky in the Gudermes district.
