Motor vehicle blown up in Grozny

GROZNY. June 23 (Interfax-AVN) - An UAZ motor vehicle was blown up in Grozny on Monday.

The blast occurred at 12:30 p.m. Moscow time (0830 GMT), a Russian Emergency Situations Ministry official told Interfax. There is no information on casualties.

A search and rescue team is currently working at the scene.

The vehicle was carrying Chechen policemen when it hit an identified explosive device, Interfax was told. "One policeman died at the scene and another two were hospitalized in serious condition," a source told Interfax.

The bomb was placed near Grozny's only public bathing facility, which is also near a transport stop. That street is one of the busiest in the city and thousands of students from the Chechen State University, which is located nearby, use the stop everyday.

The perpetrators of the terrorist attack are currently at large.
