Tbilisi has plans for settling conflict in Abkhazia

TBILISI. June 24 (Interfax-AVN) - The Georgian government has a plan to achieve a peaceful settlement in Abkhazia, although it is not very much advertised, Foreign Minister Irakly Menagarishvili told Imedi radio on Tuesday.

"The public knows the main conceptual provisions of this plan: settlement by peaceful means, the development of cooperation with international intermediaries, and the development of a direct dialogue with Abkhazia," the minister said.

Some provisions of the plan are only known to the people who directly work on settling the conflict, he said.

"It is up to the people of Georgia and Abkhazia to make the final decision," Menagarishvili said.
