CHISINAU. June 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian, Molavian, and Transdniestrian peacekeepers involved in peacekeeping operations at the Dniestr are holding scheduled joint combat exercise, a competent source in the Moldavian Defense Ministry told Interfax- Military News Agency Thursday.
"The decision to hold the joint exercise was made at a recent session of the Joint Control Commission in Bendery. The exercise place is the bridge across the Dniestr near the village of Vadul-lui-Vode where two peacekeepers' checkpoints are located," the source said.
According to the source, three rapid response teams (one each side), two imitation teams, two APCs, some wheeled vehicles, and 12 radio terminals are involved.
The objective of the exercise is to check the readiness of operative teams to unblock peacekeepers' checkpoints, eliminate crime groups, and resume routine duty at the checkpoints.
The military attaches of a number of countries accredited in the Moldavian capital, as well as reporters, are invited to the exercise.
