Another railway missile launcher cannibalized in Bryansk

MOSCOW. July 7 (Interfax-AVN) - The second railway missile launcher will be cannibalized at Bryansk Central Repair Plant on Monday to Friday, a source in the defense industry told Interfax- Military News Agency on Monday.

The Strategic Missile Forces (SMF) press service has confirmed the information.

According to the press service, the process, in compliance with the START treaty, will be supervised by a U.S. inspection team escorted by officers of the Treaty Implementation Center of SMF.

The launcher will be cannibalized and a relevant final report will be signed on Friday.

The first launcher was being cannibalized from May till June 16 this year.

The press service noted that these launchers have completely worked out their service life, and, having been discharged of the missiles, they were sent to the town of Bryansk for cannibalization.

The technological and ecological safety are continuously monitored during the process. Only the components providing their strategic use are to be destroyed completely. The released dual-use assets will be commissioned for further use.

According to the press service, there are six launchers on the cannibalization list for this year.
