Russian border guards seize one more guerilla cache in Chechnya

STAVROPOL. July 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian border guards have seized an ammo cache in Chechnya, the press service of the North Caucasus Regional Border Guard Directorate of the Federal Security Service told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.

A patrol of the Argun border guard detachment found the guerilla cache on Thursday night, an official of the press service said. The cache contained four RGD-5 hand grenades and a zinc box with over 500 7.62-mm cartridges. The seized ammo was taken to the border picket.

Servicemen of the directorate have seized and destroyed more than 50 guerilla caches on various sections of the Russian- Georgian border this year. As much as 20kg of explosives, over 10 pieces of weapons, more than 90 hand grenades, about 1,500 grenade launcher rounds, 80 mines and over 56,000 cartridges were in the caches.

"Additional units, temporary border guard pickets and parties were placed as scheduled, and combat-search, ambush and search-reconnaissance actions were performed in the past 24 hours on the border sections where crossing of the Caucasian mountain ridge by passes is already possible," the official said.
